James: Omar, Omar. This is James O’Keefe with Project Veritas Action. We have you on hidden camera saying that voters should not know about Gillum’s policies. Would you like to see yourself on video? Um, you say, do voters know that, that’s not for them to know. That’s not for them to know. Remember our saying, modern day fairy tales begin with once I get elected, once I am elected, that’s your quote. Modern day fairy tales and it’s not for voters to know. Could you tell America why you feel Gillum has to deceive the voters in order to get elected?
Omar:… I think you’re only playing only a part of the clip.
James: We have a whole 15 minute video here. We also have you saying that you went to college with Gillum. Can you talk about, more about your association with him in college and what compelled you to get involved in his campaign?
James: What about this do you think we have dishonestly shown here? It’s pretty clear. You, you have to appeal to white guilt. Fairy tales in the old days begin quote once upon a time, you said it twice. Fairy tales in modern day begin with once I am elected. Any comment?
James: I mean, you’re pretty clear that he has to, he can’t tell voters. Why can’t he tell voters these things?
Omar: Well, every voter will make up their own mind and not make up their mind on my opinion.
James: Does, does, is your opinion true?
Omar: It’s true for me.
James: Okay, is it uh, is it accurate that you can’t tell voters that once he gets elected he’s not going to be able to enact these policies?
Omar: If you understand how government works, one man cannot enact all of the policies that he wants, that’s considered a dictatorship.
James: So why do we have to hide it from voters?
Omar: we don’t have to hide it from voters.
James: that’s what you said.
Omar: that’s not what I said.
James: Okay. Would you like see yourself saying it? Okay. Do you have any other comment you’d like to add before we publish these videos?
Omar: I would rather you not publish these videos.
James: why not?
Omar: I don’t like to be on TV
James: Heh, well voters don’t like to be lied to, sir. Should they be lied to? Again, let me get the exact clip for you so you know I don’t misquote you. *looks for clip* Do voters know that, that’s not for them to know. That’s what you said, it’s not for them to know, that’s your exact quote. What did you mean by that? How could I have possibly taken that out of context?
James: It’s my last question, and then we’ll head out because we have to publish the video. What could, what did you mean by that’s not for voters to know? Tell me how that could have been taken out of context.
James: nothing, nothing?
Omar: not while I’m walking. Turn off the camera, we can sit down and have a conversation.
James: Uh, we can turn off the, I don’t know if I want to turn off the camera, but, um, uh, that’s not what we do at Project Veritas. So, do you have any, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll head out. Any additional comment before we do?
Omar: can you turn off the camera?
James: uh, we cannot turn off the camera, no, so, uh, if you’re unwilling to give a comment, we’ll just have to publish what we have, okay?
Omar: well, I would ask that you please do not publish the video.
James: Okay. And if we do?
Omar: *shrugs* I don’t know.
James: Alright Omar, thanks for your comment, and we will be speaking with you shortly, okay?
Omar: I ask that you please don’t publish the video, can I have your card?
James: can you have my card?
James: Uh, I can give you my cell phone number, if it helps, I don’t have a card with me.
James: I’ll give you my number. Or, or we can just, do you have a pen, we can write it down? Here we go.
James: my number is *gives phone number*
Omar: what’s your name?
James: James O’Keefe. Project Veritas Action.
James: Project V-E-R-I-T-A-S. This is a nationwide investigation, we’ve been going into all these different states, McCaskill – Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona, North Dakota, now Florida. So, we’re trying to have an honest conversation about why people, what they tell voters in public versus what they tell them in private. And, I will say, you come across, as a very savvy, political person, someone who’s very intelligent, knows how the process works, I just think this comment you made about the voters shouldn’t know, I think that was the deception. So,
Omar: I don’t think that it was deception.
James: okay. Okay, alright. It’s not deception why?
Omar: You’ve taken a piece of my statement, you have, near, the beginning of the end of the conversation.
James: we have the whole conversation, it’s 15 minutes long.
Omar: so don’t just harp on that one point.
James: we have a bunch of different statements here. That’s not for them to know. Remember our saying, modern day fairy tales start with once I am elected. So, I think I’ve uh, given you a chance to respond, there’s my phone number, and uh…
Omar: I will call you
James: please call me, we’ll have a conversation. We’re going to, we’re gonna publish this here, uh, imminently.
Omar: I would rather you not publish it in the interim.
James: You know, you did speak with a person, we have no duty to keep confidential the information that you’ve shared with this person, and we’re going to be publishing it. So, thank you very much Omar, I appreciate your coordialness here talking to us, and we’ll see you, we’ll see you soon, okay? Thank you very much.
James: Uh, this is James O’Keefe reporting from from Florida outside the office of Governor candidate Gillum, speaking with uh, one of the staffers in the campaign, Omar, who apparently went to college with Gillum, has given us some comments here before we publish the video. Should be very interesting to see the reaction.
